MURCHISON FALLS TRIP

3 DAY’S ITINERARY MURCHISON FALLS TRIP

A thrilling experience that takes you to Uganda’s most visited and quite adventurous park. Murchison Falls is the largest national park in Uganda sitting on over 5000kmsq inhabiting the famous big four and closest to the home of the other big 1 (rhinos) at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, granting you the opportunity to view the “big 5” in one trip. It’s crossed by the famous River Nile that plunges through a small gorge at the Murchison falls the world’s strongest falls with approximately 300cubic liters of water thrashing through this 7-8meter gorge per second before it proceeds down north where it pours into Lake Albert and later flows out heading to South Sudan till it gets to the Mediterranean Sea.

Itinerary

Day 1

You will set off from your hotel in Kampala at 6am with your luggage heading to the park. This route is roughly 3 hours drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and quite flexible should one wish to make a nature call as we transit. The road is smoothly tarmacked and shouldn’t give and challenges as soon as we leave Kampala. Our first destination will be Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where we get to track the rhinos. This is a breeding ranch for the only rhinos in Uganda besides the 2 that are at UWEC in Entebbe. After the tracking experience we shall have lunch and proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. On arrival to Murchison, we shall make a stop at the entry gate to make payments and registration hence all clients should carry their passports or a copy of the same. After registration we shall then drive to the top of falls for a fairly smooth hiking experience to the falls and from here we shall proceed to the northern side of the park crossing the river and head to the lodge Pakuba Safari Lodge.

Note: On this trip you will need sunscreen, insect repellent, light clothing and tracking shoes for the rhino experience. Other times feel free to have your feet relaxed in sandals since most time will be spent in the cars while on drives. Accommodation; Pakuba Safari Lodge

Day 2

We shall have an early morning game drive starting at 6:30am, we always start early such that we leave enough time for us to find animals still active before the sun gets too hot forcing animals into a lazy mode and seeking for shades. This means breakfast will be served earlier starting at 5am), but if you wish to have it a little later you can order for packaged breakfast which you can enjoy when we make a break at the delta point while on safari. The morning drive will be roughly 4 hours and then we shall drive to the river point where we get to board the boats for the waterfall cruise. The waterfalls cruise is approximately 3 hours and when you get back, we shall be drive to the lodge for lunch. After lunch it will be your time to relax and have an easy time at the lodge. The lodge has a standard swimming pool for you to relax at for those that wish to. There will be an optional extra evening drive for those that wish to go for a drive and catch the sunset in the wilderness too.

Day 3

The last day grants you time to have a longer sleep and breakfast at a later time. We shall be checking out of the lodge at 9am as we drive back to Kampala. End Trip
